Welcome to AOC, a beloved establishment in Los Angeles that has been serving up delectable tapas and small plates for over 20 years. Nestled in a prime location on W 3rd St, AOC offers a unique dining experience that combines New American cuisine with a sophisticated cocktail bar vibe.
As a food reviewer for Restaurant World, I have had the pleasure of exploring AOC's extensive menu, which caters to various dietary preferences including pescatarian, vegan, and vegetarian options. From bacon-wrapped dates stuffed with parmesan to grilled spring onion focaccia, every dish at AOC is meticulously crafted to delight even the most discerning palate.
What sets AOC apart is not just its diverse menu offerings, but also the thoughtful details that enhance the dining experience. The restaurant's commitment to sustainability is evident in its use of reusable tableware and provision of gender-neutral restrooms. Additionally, the warm and inviting ambiance, complete with heated outdoor seating and covered outdoor seating options, makes AOC an ideal spot for a romantic dinner or a casual get-together with friends.
My personal favorites at AOC include the Spanish fried chicken with romesco aioli, the lobster gnocchi with sorrel aioli, and the bittersweet chocolate torta with malted milk and peanuts for dessert. Each dish is a harmonious blend of flavors and textures, showcasing the culinary expertise of the chefs at AOC.
Whether you're looking for a memorable brunch experience or a cozy dinner setting, AOC is sure to exceed your expectations. With its impeccable service, creative cocktails, and mouthwatering dishes, AOC truly stands out as a gem in the bustling culinary scene of Los Angeles.

AOC has been around for over 20 years, which is probably 100 in restaurant years--in short, they're not the shiniest new toy on the block, but when a restaurant endures like that, there's typically a reason for it. I've been for dinner two or three times, but I hadn't been there in quite a while. My food buddy and I were looking for a place to have brunch, and he suggested AOC--what a great idea that turned out to be. Brunch is one of my favorite meals for a lot of reasons. It's often an opportunity to pair something savory (yay for eggs!) with something sweet (pancakes, French toast, you get the idea). It's also a great way to experience an upscale restaurant without the sticker shock of dinnertime. And somehow, having a pleasant meal with a friend (or friends) just seems like a great way to position yourself for the rest of a leisurely weekend day. Once seated in the delightful indoor patio area, my appetite felt moderate (as opposed to ravenous), so after some discussion with our friendly and knowledgeable server, we opted for two savory dishes. First up was the a.o.c. brioche, which featured brioche topped with melted gruyere, as well as prosciutto, frisee and a sunny-side up egg. It was a delicious and not overly heavy combination. Next up was a silky smooth omelette, which came with basil pistou, burrata, creme fraiche and watercress (a nice little salad that also had watermelon radish and sweet cherry tomatoes). Also excellent, though next time I'd probably jump right on the omelette (to catch it at peak temperature) rather than wait until I finished the brioche. We did decide to end with something sweet: the sticky bun with walnuts. So good. It's listed as a starter, but if I'd had that first (and not split it), I'd have needed a nap. As the ending to our meal, however, it was perfect. All in all, a lovely experience from start to finish.

Nice! - great explanation of AOC by the wonderful staff. Very knowledgeable of the menu. Lamb chops were a hit, braised beef and hangar steak were to die for especially with that corn bread in the bottom thing. House Salad and bread, really yummy. Clam broth thingy with the toast, bomb diggity. Roasted chicken - wow. But, bruh, we couldn't see what we were enjoying, it was too dark to appreciate how each masterpiece was plated. Next time, we're going for lunch.

We stopped in for Happy Hour while shopping on Robertson. We were hungry, and intrigued by their small plates, we ordered: * Marinated Olives * Farmer's Plate * Spanish Chicken * Burrata Anchovy Flatbread * Plus, 3 cucumber gin drinks and 1 glass of white wine. Everything was excellent! The portions were larger than we expected, so we took home half of everything. (I'm enjoying the rest of the flatbread now as I write this). The food is very fresh, unique and homemade. The bar and restaurant appear to have been converted from an old historic-style house with Moroccan touches, which add to the charming old-world elegance of the place. All of the staff we encountered was very helpful, attentive and friendly. We aren't in this area very often, but we plan to visit again when we are. Loved it!

My friend recommended this place and it was phenomenal. From the service to the vibes to the food and drinks, I'd definitely come back. AOC is French-American. Menu is simple and descriptive. We started with some cocktails and wine. I got the basil smash and what makes this cocktail stand out is the perfect level of sweetness--it's fruity without being too overpowering. And my second drink was the green goddess, also incredibly refreshing. Bacon-wrapped dates are a must have. We also got the grilled torpedo onion, cherry tomato, mahón, harissa & basil focaccia, this is like a very light and fluffy pizza. The star of the show for me was the Spanish fried chicken. The chili cumin butter pairs well with the crunch of the chicken. And you also cannot go wrong with the hanger steak- so juicy and the crispy edges made every bite perfection. I can't believe I just discovered this place. But I'll be back for sure.
